Dear Carolina Community,

As we approach a season of thanksgiving, we reflect on the values of gratitude, compassion and public service. This time of year offers a chance to pause and appreciate the many things for which we are thankful and also reminds us of our shared responsibility to support one another in times of need.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our University came together in ways that truly reflect the heart of who we are. Our thoughts remain with those, including the families of many of our own students, affected by this tragedy. Stories about the dedicated efforts of our community can be found in an online collection of our continued Hurricane Helene response.

The work is far from done, but the response from every corner of our campus is a testament to the power of our Carolina family and our commitment to making a difference in the lives of North Carolinians. We will continue to respond and assist our sister schools and all North Carolinians through our expertise, donations, and volunteer efforts.

I am deeply grateful to each of you for your remarkable spirit of kindness and generosity. As we near the end of the semester, let us hold close the values that drive us forward — gratitude for one another and a dedication to serving the world around us.

Sincerely,

Lee H. Roberts
Chancellor
